Fire Danger Warning: Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge

Due to high drought indices across the Southeastern United States and current local weather parameters, Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge complex is issuing a fire weather information update for Piedmont and Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuges. We will be halting prescribed fire activities in conjunction with the increasing fire weather.

During quota hunts, no campfires will be allowed in Pippin Lake Campground. As well, please be advised to tighten trailer chains when travelling to and from the refuge. Fires of any kind are prohibited on both Piedmont and Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuges effective 4/15/2026.

If fire activity is observed, please call our main office at (478) 479 4044. If fire activity seems urgent in nature, please call 911. For more information on our drought conditions, please visit: https://www.weather.gov/ffc/drought

Thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping refuge personnel and public safety as our number one priority!
