Get ready y’all, we're getting TWO new fire stations 👀🚒

Fire Station No. 10 located at 4380 E. Old Settlers Blvd is set to be completed next month! The station will serve Round Rock's rapidly growing northeast side. Construction for Fire Station No. 11 is underway with completion expected by the end of 2027.

These new fire stations were approved as part of the May 2023 bond package where $44 million was authorized to fund significant public safety investments, including new fire stations, improvements to public safety facilities and other infrastructure supporting long-term emergency response needs.

Meeting crisis with care 🫶 Today marks the final day of National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week, recognizing professionals who respond when members of their communities are experiencing behavioral health crises.

Established in 2022, Round Rock’s Crisis Response Unit (CRU) is part of the Round Rock Fire Department’s Community Risk Reduction division. It is separate from other similarly named public safety units and focuses specifically on mental health and substance use-related needs. The team helps stabilize people in crisis, connects individuals and families with appropriate care and resources and provides follow-up support beyond the initial call.

CRU’s team members come to the team with extensive education and experience and complete intensive field-based training in emergency behavioral health assessment, su***de risk, acute psychiatric concerns, scene safety, overdose response, CPR, emergency communications and coordination with Police, Fire, EMS, hospitals and other community partners.

That training prepares them to provide care in homes, businesses, public spaces, roadside environments and active emergency scenes, where team members must combine clinical expertise with rapid decision-making, first-responder awareness and the ability to work safely alongside other public safety professionals.

We’re grateful for the expertise, compassion and steady presence CRU brings to some of the most difficult moments our community members may face.

Fresh faces reporting for duty! 🔥

The Round Rock Fire Department welcomed Dylan Dust and Timothy Osio to the ranks Friday after they completed our New Hire Academy, including required EMT training. These two round out the total of six new firefighter positions funded in the City’s FY2026 budget.

We have big plans to continue to grow with Round Rock, as City Council just approved funding for 15 additional firefighters for FY2027 to prepare for the opening of Fire Station 11, which is from the 2023 G.O. bond project package approved by voters.

Also graduating Friday were Mady Chavez and Marselis Nelson, two new Behavioral Health Specialists with RRFD’s Crisis Response Unit, which responds to behavioral health crises and helps connect people in crisis with appropriate care and resources. We're proud to be able to provide these important services to our community!

Today marks 25 years since the unimaginable events of September 11.

There were 110 flights of stairs to the top of the World Trade Center. To honor and remember those who lost their lives on that tragic day, Round Rock’s public safety teams climbed the same number of stairs.

This morning, H-E-B stopped by several Round Rock fire stations to serve breakfast as part of Helping Heroes, an annual tradition where H-E-B employees show their appreciation for local first responders by serving meals and spending time with them.

👀 If you spotted a Black Hawk over Round Rock today, here’s what was happening!

Members of Texas A&M Task Force 1 were at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center today for helicopter search and rescue training with the Texas Army National Guard.

The team trains monthly with National Guard aircraft and crews to practice operations like hoisting, search and rescue and medical evacuation. These skills can be called upon during severe weather, wildfires and other major emergencies across Texas.

Texas A&M Task Force 1 is made up largely of specially trained first responders from local fire departments and agencies across the state. When a disaster requires resources beyond what one community can provide, those local responders train and work together to support a statewide response.

Not every calling asks you to run toward what everyone else runs from.

Last week, Firefighters Dillon Hernandez, William Parslow, David Patenaude and James "Trey" Rogers graduated from the Round Rock Fire Department Academy.

Over the past four months as cadets, they have been challenged, pushed and prepared for a career of service. They learned the importance of trust, humility and perseverance. They learned that every shift is a chance to grow, every call matters and every member of the crew depends on one another.

As they begin their careers, we hope they carry those lessons with them. Stay humble. Keep learning. Take care of your crew. Remember why you answered the call, and never lose sight of the people and community you're sworn to protect.

Congratulations to our newest Round Rock firefighters, and to the families who stood beside them every step of the way.
Not for self, but for others.
