When Officer Nisula tells an Explorer, “Have a great day at school!” and she replies, “You too!”… well, he understood the assignment.
Looks like VHE has a new student today! From class to standing in line, Officer Nisula is officially getting the full Explorer experience.
Thanks for always bringing smiles, building relationships, and being such a special part of our VHE family!

💙 It Takes a Village, and We’re Grateful for Officer Nisula! 💙

Every day at VHE, there are countless things happening behind the scenes to make sure our students are safe, supported, and cared for, and Officer James Nisula is a big part of that work.

Each day, Officer Nisula makes his rounds checking our exterior doors and helping ensure our campus is secure. Every once in a while, he picks up a few little “helpers” along the way! 🦛💙 There’s something special about seeing our students walk beside him, learning that keeping our school safe is something we ALL play a part in.

At VHE, we truly believe it takes a village. Our village is made up of teachers, staff, families, community members, students, and people like Officer Nisula who show up every single day ready to do their part.

Every door checked. Every relationship built. Every student who knows there are adults looking out for them.

It all matters. 💙

Thank you, Officer Nisula, for being such an important part of our VHE village and for helping us create a school where our students can feel safe, loved, and ready to learn.

🏕️ Camp Collaboration is officially underway at Veterans’ Hill! 🦛

Today, we held our very first Collaborative Team Meeting, and our Explorers dug into the shifts we are making in our practices to ensure we are living out our vision: Love Deeply. Learn Boldly. Lead Courageously.

We focused on three big shifts:
📚 From Teaching → Learning
Moving beyond “Did I teach it?” to asking, “Did they learn it?” Our work isn’t finished when something has been taught—student learning is the result we’re after.

🤝 From MY Students → OUR Students
Every child at VHE belongs to all of us. We are building a culture of collective responsibility where we share strategies, solve problems together, and celebrate success together because they are OUR kids.

🎯 From Activity → Results
It’s not about how much we talked, planned, or did. We have to ask, “What evidence will tell us whether it worked?” We measure our impact by what students learned.

These may sound like simple shifts, but they represent a powerful change in how we approach our work together. Our vision isn’t just something we say or something written on our walls. It has to show up in how we teach, how we collaborate, how we respond when students struggle, and how we take collective responsibility for every Explorer in our building.

This is the work. And we’re just getting started. 🏕️
