The Roxana Street Department will be closed on Friday, April 3, 2026 in observance of Good Friday. We would like to inform you about changes to our trash collection schedule. Please note the following adjustment:

Friday Collection: Residents normally scheduled for Friday collection will instead be collected on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

All other collection schedules remain unchanged.

One of our garbage trucks is currently out of service for maintenance. As a result, some trash collection routes may experience slight delays. We expect any disruptions to be limited to no more than one day.

Roxana Residents,
Ahead of the predicted large scale snow event this weekend, please see the following notice.

**Snow Removal and Street Maintenance:**
During snow events, we kindly request residents make an effort to remove vehicles from the roadways whenever possible. This facilitates thorough snow plowing from curb to curb and ensures the safety and efficiency of our snow removal operations. Failure to do so may result in vehicles being buried during heavy snowfalls.

Please be aware that the Street Department does not provide plowing or salting services for alleyways. This is due to clearance issues that hinder effective snow removal in these areas. If your parking area is accessible only by alleyway, please note that your vehicle may encounter difficulty traversing through during heavy snowfall or icy conditions. We encourage residents to explore alternative parking arrangements during these conditions.

We recommend waiting until the streets have been cleared of snow before clearing your driveways. Failing to wait may result in the driveway approach being reburied during subsequent snow plowing.

**Special Assistance for Elderly and Handicapped Residents:**
The Village provides snow removal assistance for the driveways of elderly and handicapped citizens. To apply for this program, contact Village Hall at (618) 254-0345. It is important to note that this service will be provided only after the streets are completely cleared.

Roxana Residents,

As the autumn season has concluded, please be advised that the Village’s weekly scheduled leaf collection program ended on December 31, 2025. Leaf collection associated with this program has now concluded as the Street Department transitions to winter operations.

While the Street Department may still collect leaves as time and conditions allow, the weekly scheduled pickup has ended. Leaves placed out at this time may experience delayed collection or may require alternative disposal methods.

The Roxana Street Department will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day.

We would like to inform you of the temporary changes to the trash collection schedule this week:

• Thursday Collection: There will be no trash collection on Thursday 1/1/26 for New Year’s Day. We will start the second round of trash collection on Wednesday 12/31/25 and for the remaining residents that do not get trash collected on Wednesday, those residents will be collected on Friday 1/2/26.

• Friday Collection: Trash collection will remain the same for the residents who are normally scheduled for Friday trash collection.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Roxana Street Department will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of Christmas Day.

We would like to inform you of the temporary changes to the trash collection schedule this week:

• Thursday Collection: There will be no trash collection on Thursday 12/25/25 for Christmas Day. We will start the second round of trash collection on Wednesday 12/24/25 and for the remaining residents that do not get trash collected on Wednesday, those residents will be collected on Friday 12/26/25.

• Friday Collection: Trash collection will remain the same for the residents who are normally scheduled for Friday trash collection.

Attention Roxana Residents,

This is a final reminder that only the new Village-issued refuse containers are being collected as part of our regular trash service. Over the past several weeks, the Village has provided multiple notifications through mailed letters, the Village newsletter, social media posts, stickers placed directly on non-approved containers, and information shared during scheduled Village board meetings regarding this change.

Please be aware of the following:

Trash placed in any container other than the new Village-issued container will not be collected.

Loose refuse including items, bags, or boxes left on the ground will not be collected and may result in a citation under the Village’s solid waste ordinance.

Large or bulky items, such as furniture or mattresses, should continue to be handled through the established large-item collection process.

Additionally, as previously stated, any non-Village issued refuse containers left in the right-of-way will be removed and disposed of by the Village beginning December 1st. If you wish to keep your existing trash container, it must be removed from the Village's right-of-way before that date.

Roxana Residents,
The Roxana Street Department will be closed on Thursday and Friday of next week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. We would like to inform you of the temporary changes to the trash collection schedule:

• Thursday Collection: There will be no trash collection on Thursday, 11-27-25. The regularly scheduled pickup on Monday, 11-24-25 will be the only collection that week.

• Friday Collection: Residents who are normally scheduled for Friday pickup will instead be collected on Tuesday, 11-25-25.
Regular trash collection will resume the following week.

This is a reminder that only the new Village-issued refuse containers are being collected as part of the regular trash service. We’ve noticed that some residents are still placing trash in older containers or leaving loose bags on the ground. Please be aware of the following:

-Trash placed in any container other than the new one will not be collected.

-Loose refuse (items or bags placed on the ground) will not be collected and may be subject to a citation under the Village’s solid waste ordinance.

-Large or bulky items that cannot be broken down, such as furniture or mattresses, should continue to be handled through the existing large-item collection process.

This is a reminder that beginning Monday, October 6th, the regular trash collection schedule will change to Mondays and Thursdays.

At the same time, we will begin delivering the new refuse containers announced in the recent Village newsletter. We ask for your patience, as it will take some time to deliver containers to all households.

Once your residence has received the new containers, please begin using them immediately. At that point, no other containers will be collected from your property. All refuse must be placed inside the new container. Loose bags or items left on the ground will not be collected.

Attention Roxana Residents,

Please be advised that the Village of Roxana will be performing oil and chip work on most alleys in the village on October 9th and 10th.

Each alley will be closed for a short time while work is completed. If you normally park your vehicle behind your house or rely on the alley to access your property, please make other arrangements for those dates.

Because this work will be completed in sequence, we are unable to provide a specific timeline for when individual alleys will be closed.

The garbage truck that was out of service has been repaired and is now back in operation. Trash collection will return to the regular schedule.
