Urban Edge is dedicated to strengthening communities and families. Together, we build affordable housing and vibrant, prosperous neighborhoods.

We focus on economic justice through financial counseling, wealth building through homeownership education, anti-displacement through foreclosure prevention, and community engagement as we construct more affordable housing. And no pandemic will ever stop us from carrying out that work.

We had an incredible evening at our annual Community event last Wednesday - filled with inspiring conversation, reflection, and celebration. Thanks to our panelists Dr. Karilyn Crockett, Turahn Dorsey, Ben Forman, and Emilio Dorcely, along with moderator Jeanne Pinado, for a thoughtful discussion exploring the recent history, current challenges, and future opportunities involved in advancing housing stability and economic opportunity within our communities.

We also had the honor of having Amanda Shea perform a powerful original poem dedicated to Urban Edge, reflecting on the lived realities, resilience, and strength within our communities (link in bio). We wrapped up the evening with an energizing performance by Boston-based YAK Band.

Last week our Urban Edge team headed to the Massachusetts State House for the annual Lobby Day event. We were joined by colleagues and community development corporations from across the state to lobby for FY2027 state budget priorities. We look forward to seeing all of you again!

Urban Edge was proud to co-host the first of our quarterly civic engagement events in Roxbury, along with our allies Reclaim Roxbury, Madison Park Development Corporation, and Greatest Minds. We had over a dozen community leaders in the room learning about the ins and outs of local government, and we were proud to be joined by City Councilor Miniard Culpepper and State Representative Chynah Tyler. We’re excited to continue this series throughout the spring with the next event being at Town Hall on Friday, March 6, from 5:30-8:00 PM.

Thanks to everyone who came to this Valentine’s Day info session! We’ll see you in March!
