8.19.26 - At 5:24pm, the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department was requested to assist the Southbury Fire Dept at a house fire on Roxbury Road (Rt 67) near Rt 172. Roxbury Tanker 11 and Engine 10 responded. Met with extremely heavy fire on arrival, Asst Chief Cartagena and Lt Meehan assisted Southbury's firefighters on the initial fire attack hoselines. As the rest of the Roxbury firefighters arrived, they joined Southbury Firefighters and pitched in assisting with an aggressive interior fire attack which knocked a lot of the fire down.
With a fire of this magnitude, mutual aid played a key role, with assistance from the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company, Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department Southbury Ambulance, Incident Rehab was performed by Roxbury Ambulance, Oxford EMS, as well as Woodbury Ambulance Association.
The Southbury Police Department and Connecticut State Police-Troop A Southbury were also assisting in many ways. Thank you also to Southbury Dispatch, and Northwest Connecticut Public Safety Communication Center for the fine communications work.

There was extensive damage to the house, and two firefighters were transported for minor environmental-heat related issues.
