🌸 Hello, September! 🌸

As we welcome a new month, take a moment to notice the beauty that surrounds us in our gardens, our community, and in the friendships we share.

As Iris Murdoch beautifully said:

“People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us.”

Here’s to a September filled with friendship, service, beautiful moments, and plenty of reasons to be mad with joy! 🌷🌼

📅 ROWC General Meeting Tonight!

🕕 Arrive for social half-hour
🕡 Meeting kicks off!

We look forward to seeing everyone!

🔋 Don’t forget your used batteries! The Environmental Committee is collecting used/dead batteries for recycling as part of our ongoing recycling program. Bring them to tonight’s meeting or any upcoming ROWC event and place them in the collection container at the Clubhouse.

For safety, please place a small piece of tape over the terminal end of each battery before bringing it in.

Collected batteries will be taken to SOCRRA for proper recycling as the container fills.

Thank you for doing your part for the environment! 🌎💚

🦋 Remembering Dolly Parton 🦋

Today, we remember Dolly Parton and celebrate the incredible example she set as a woman, philanthropist, and champion for children. 🌸🦋

📚 In 1995, Dolly founded the Imagination Library, inspired by her father, who was unable to read or write. What began as a program providing free books to children in her home county grew into a worldwide effort, putting millions of books into the hands of children and helping inspire a lifelong love of reading. 📖🦋

Dolly showed us the difference one woman can make through compassion, generosity, and a commitment to helping others. 🦋

May her legacy of kindness, learning, and giving continue to inspire generations to come. 🕊️🦋 Our thoughts are with her family, loved ones, and all those whose lives she touched. 💐

Walk Across America — We’re on Our Way! 👟

The Health & Wellness Committee’s Walk Across America challenge is going strong as we celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary!

As of July 31, our members have traveled an incredible 1,268 miles! We’re now between New York City and Saratoga and continuing our journey toward Yorktown, Virginia.

🏆 Congratulations to our first-place walker for July, Terry Poduska, with an amazing 208.7 miles! Terry added plenty of miles while walking all over Europe on her recent vacation!

Want to help us keep moving? Every bit of activity counts—walking, running, hiking, yoga, fitness classes, cycling, dancing, and everyday movement can all be converted into steps.

📅 Submit your steps or activity each month to Lisa Belisle at [email protected]. August submissions are due Friday, September 4, 2026.

Every step gets us closer to our goal. Keep moving—we’re on our way! 👟

🍹 Cocktails, Conversation & Giving Back! 👠👟

On August 11, 10 members gathered for Cocktails on the Patio—an evening of friendship, conversation, and community service.

Together, our members collected an incredible 109 pairs of shoes for Soles4Souls! 💚

Soles4Souls turns donated shoes and clothing into opportunities that make a difference worldwide. Donations help fight poverty by supporting entrepreneurs, provide relief to people experiencing crisis, and protect our planet by keeping shoes and clothing out of landfills.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and donated. 109 pairs of shoes can go a long way toward making a difference! 👟💕
