The City of Royse City invites residents, business owners, stakeholders, and community members to participate in the third and final Public Open House and Virtual Open House for the Royse City Comprehensive & Downtown Plan. This upcoming engagement opportunity will present draft plan recommendations for both the citywide Comprehensive Plan and the Downtown Plan and give the community an important opportunity to provide input before the plans are finalized.

This is a crucial draft stage in the planning process. The recommendations being shared are preliminary, and public input gathered through the Public Open House and the Virtual Open House will directly influence the final recommendations and the overall direction of both plan documents.

Public Open House #3 will be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Royse City ISD Event Center. Participants will be able to review draft recommendations, learn more about the proposed direction for key topics, and share feedback on priorities, ideas, and next steps for Royse City’s future growth and development.

For those who cannot attend in person, Virtual Open House #3 will provide online access to the draft recommendations and engagement materials, allowing community members to review the information and submit comments during the open comment period. The Virtual Open House will be posted online in late September.

Community participation remains essential to shaping the Royse City Comprehensive & Downtown Plan. To learn more about the planning effort, review engagement opportunities, and sign up for project updates, visit www.roysecitycompplan.com.

Extreme heat is the deadliest weather hazard in the U.S..
Take it seriously, know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

🥵 Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea
🚨 Heat Stroke: High body temperature, confusion, loss of consciousness

Prevention is key: Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and protect the most vulnerable (pets, kids and elderly).

Major update to traffic switchover to new lanes on IH30

After saying it would take two weeks to complete a westbound entrance ramp at FM2642, TXDOT was able to complete it overnight. Thank you TXDOT for addressing our concerns.

You can enter westbound IH30 at FM2642!!

07/14/2026

Update: 7/15/26, the process has begun. The new Westbound Service Road between FM 2642 and FM 35 was opened last night. The entrance ramp to westbound IH30 at FM 2642 was closed this morning but has reopened temporarily for now. The main lane switch on the interstate will take place tonight and the FM 2642 and FM 35 westbound entrance ramps will be closed tonight.

Major changes coming this week to IH30 Road Project through Royse City.

July 14, 2026 - TXDOT informed city officials that the IH30 traffic switch to the new pavement in Royse City will still take place sometime this week. It has been delayed due to the recent rain. Prior to the traffic switch taking place, the IH30 Westbound Service Road between FM 2642 and FM 35 will be reopened to traffic. TXDOT also informed the city that the IH30 Westbound entrance ramps at FM 2642 and FM 35 will be closed when the traffic switch takes place. A temporary westbound entrance ramp at FM 2642 will be constructed but it will not be completed for two to three weeks after the traffic switch takes place. This means any motorist entering onto the Westbound IH30 Service Road from FM 2642, FM 35, FM 548 and Erby Campbell with the intention of entering onto IH30 Westbound will have to remain on the service road until they reach the IH30 Westbound entrance ramp at FM 551 in Fate. An alternative route to IH30 Westbound from Royse City would be to travel east on IH30 to FM1565 then turn around onto the westbound service road to use the entrance ramp at that location. Other westbound options during this two to three week period while the temporary westbound entrance ramp at FM 2642 is being constructed would be to utilize HWY 66 or HWY 276.

Update: The traffic switch did not occur on Monday July 13th as scheduled. If we receive more information from TXDOT we will advise.
