The City of Royse City invites residents, business owners, stakeholders, and community members to participate in the third and final Public Open House and Virtual Open House for the Royse City Comprehensive & Downtown Plan. This upcoming engagement opportunity will present draft plan recommendations for both the citywide Comprehensive Plan and the Downtown Plan and give the community an important opportunity to provide input before the plans are finalized.

This is a crucial draft stage in the planning process. The recommendations being shared are preliminary, and public input gathered through the Public Open House and the Virtual Open House will directly influence the final recommendations and the overall direction of both plan documents.

Public Open House #3 will be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Royse City ISD Event Center. Participants will be able to review draft recommendations, learn more about the proposed direction for key topics, and share feedback on priorities, ideas, and next steps for Royse City’s future growth and development.

For those who cannot attend in person, Virtual Open House #3 will provide online access to the draft recommendations and engagement materials, allowing community members to review the information and submit comments during the open comment period. The Virtual Open House will be posted online in late September.

The wait is finally over! The doors to Royse City's new Chick-fil-A officially opens Thursday, July 2nd at 6:00 AM! If you're an early riser, don't miss Chick-fil-A's famous made-from-scratch, hand-rolled biscuits, prepared fresh every morning. They're definitely worth setting the alarm for!
The ribbon cutting ceremony was a huge success. It began with a heartfelt invocation by Mac McRoberts, followed by a beautiful rendition of the national anthem by Alyssa Robles. Scouting America Troop 312 was honored to perform the flag-raising ceremony as part of this exciting celebration. Thank you to the Chick-fil-A team for inviting our Scouts to be a part of such a special milestone for our community.
Mayor Janet Nichol extended a warm welcome to Chick-fil-A and the entire team, sharing her excitement for what this new restaurant will bring to Royse City. She spoke about the bright future ahead and Chick-fil-A's commitment to becoming an active partner in our community for years to come.
A special welcome home to Doug Knotsman and his family. Doug returns to the area after successfully operating a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Ohio for the past 20 years. We're excited to have Doug back in Texas and leading Royse City's newest Chick-fil-A location.
Congratulations to Doug, the entire Chick-fil-A team, and everyone who made this project a reality. Welcome to Royse City—we can't wait to support this wonderful addition to our community for years to come!

We wish to thank the Royse City's Lowes Home Improvement for their generous donation of flowers for our historic Main Street. This morning the CDC staff teamed up with Royse City Mayors Minutes, Janet Nichol and Royse City Main Street, Paula Morris to plant drought tolerant flowers along Main Street and around City Hall. We are grateful for community support to keep our charm in downtown!

Latham Bakery Announces Upcoming Royse City Location Opening in Fall 2026

Royse City, TX — April 29, 2026 — Latham Bakery, known for its handcrafted baked goods and dedication to quality, has announced plans to open a new location in Royse City, Texas, with a targeted opening in fall 2026.

The upcoming bakery will bring Latham Bakery’s signature selection of artisan breads, pastries, cakes, soups, salads, sandwiches, specialty coffee, and other offerings to the growing Royse City community. The expansion reflects the company’s continued growth and commitment to serving vibrant, fast-growing areas across North Texas.

“We’re excited to bring Latham Bakery to Royse City,” said Tom Woody, Executive Director of the Royse City Community Development Corporation. “When I started in this role, many community members shared how much they missed establishments like The Well and Sweet Face Bakery. Latham Bakery is the perfect addition to help fill that gap and further strengthen our vibrant and historic Main Street. Our community is experiencing incredible growth, and we look forward to welcoming Malinda Latham and her bakery as part of it—offering a space where residents can gather and enjoy fresh, high-quality food.”

The new location is expected to contribute to the local economy by creating jobs and attracting additional foot traffic to the downtown area. Latham Bakery also plans to engage with the community through local partnerships and events once the store opens.

Latham Bakery will occupy 114 E. Main Street, a building acquired by the Royse City Community Development Corporation (CDC) in February 2026. The CDC, in partnership with the Texas Historical Commission, will renovate the building’s façade and complete necessary structural improvements. Latham Bakery will oversee the interior construction and finish-out.

“It’s going to be a fantastic location that preserves the historic charm of Main Street while adding an important component to our downtown,” Woody added.
