Scott was born just south of Nevada, Texas on August 20, 1916, and graduated from Nevada High School in 1932 at the tender age 15, having skipped the second and fourth grades. Anita moved to Waco, Texas to further her education at Baylor University and received her Bachelor’s in Education on May 30, 1938. Scott returned home to accept her first teaching assignment at Royse City Elementary School.

Scott taught until 1947, when she took a break from teaching to spend time with her family. Scott accepted an opening Royse City Elementary in October 1955. While teaching and raising a family, Anita continued her own education at East Texas State Teachers College, earning her Masters of Elementary Education on May 24, 1959. Scott tendered her resignation on May 31, 1979. Having taught all of her 34-years at Royse City ISD, Mrs. Scott’s enthusiasm for teaching touched the lives of many, many Royse City boys and girls. We remember and honor Anita Scott for her years of dedication in educating the children of Royse City ISD.

Pockets full of sand and hearts full of memories. Our kindergartners had the absolute best time at Beach Day today! Watching them laugh, play, and explore together is the perfect reminder of how much they've grown this year.

STAAR
Spring STAAR EOC results will be available to families on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Grades 3-8 Assessment results will be available to families on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests include annual exams in the following areas:
Reading and Mathematics, Grades 3-8;
Science at Grades 5 and 8
Social Studies at Grade 8; and
End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for Algebra 1, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. History.

Students in Texas are required to demonstrate satisfactory performance on the end-of-course assessments in the five subjects: Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. History TEC, §39.025, “...A student may not receive a high school diploma until the student has performed satisfactorily on end-of-course assessment instruments in the manner provided under this subsection…”

TELPAS
The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) test measures the progress that Emergent Bilingual (EB) students make in learning the English language.
Grades K-1: includes holistically rated listening, speaking, and writing assessments based on ongoing classroom observations and student interactions.
Grades 2-12: includes online, multiple-choice reading, writing, listening, and speaking tests.
