Attention local Firemen! Fact of the day.

More people die from cows every year than vertical ventilation.

The more you know.

Tonight your Royston Fire Department members (pictured are Jake Jordan and Chloe Chapman) trained on decontamination of bunker gear, SCBA, and tools. Using our new decon kits recently donated by Ace Hardware.

These kits will be used on scene (prior to leaving the scene) in order to lessen the impact of carcinogens to our personnel and equipment.

These kits can also be utilized on hazmat scenes, depending on the circumstances, for mass decon incidents as well.

We would like to thank Ace Hardware of Royston again for their generous donation and support!

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division enforces a mandatory statewide summer burn ban each year from May 1 through September 30. During this time, all outdoor burning of yard debris and land-clearing materials is prohibited.

Burning household garbage, plastics, treated lumber, tires, and other trash is illegal year-round anywhere in Georgia. These materials create hazardous smoke and environmental concerns and are never permitted to be burned outdoors.

Within the Royston city limits, any permitted outdoor burning requires prior authorization or a burn permit from the Royston Fire Department. Residents should contact the department before conducting any outdoor burning activities to ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
