At the February 18, 2026 Rudyard Township Board meeting, the board voted to prohibit moving chairs from the community center into the township boardroom. Unfortunately, this decision jeopardizes the Rudyard Softball Team’s ability to host our annual indoor co****le tournament—a tradition that has brought our community together for nearly a decade.
This event isn’t just about fun; it’s about supporting our athletes. Over the past 9 years, funds raised have directly benefited players by providing cold-weather gear, covering travel expenses, and purchasing equipment for both athletes and field maintenance. Every dollar goes back into making Rudyard softball stronger.
Our team has always respected the facilities—paying rental fees, leaving the space cleaner than we found it, and ensuring everything was properly cared for. This tournament has never been a burden on the township; it has been a benefit to the community.
We were disappointed that no alternative solutions were discussed, but we are actively brainstorming ways to keep this event alive. However, we want to be transparent: the tournament may need to be suspended this year unless we can find a solution.
Here’s how you can help:
✅ Continue supporting our players by purchasing raffle tickets.
✅ Spread the word about the importance of this event to our community.
✅ Join us in encouraging the township board to reconsider or work with us on a solution.
The raffle drawing will still take place on March 21, even if the tournament cannot be held.
