Pre-School and Kindergarten Registration
Interested parents with children who will be five years-old by September 1, 2021 should complete the kindergarten registration at the school serving their neighborhood’s attendance zone. Attendance zone information can be found on the Colleton County School District’s website.

Parents with children who will be four years-old by September 1, 2021 should register for pre-kindergarten at their zoned schools during the school day. Because space is limited for pre-kindergarten, four year-olds will be assessed for possible enrollment. You will need to register in advance and each school will contact you for screening. Screening appointments will be given at each school upon registration.

Decisions on placement for pre-kindergarten will be made at each school after screenings are complete. Children are ranked in order of greatest need for participation based on the Child Early Reading and Development Education Program (CERDEP) guidelines. Placement is not based on a first come first served basis. All
participants are expected to attend regularly and for the full instructional day. For all student enrollments, parents should bring their child’s long form birth certificate, state certificate of immunizations (shot record) and two proofs of residency such as a
utility bill showing a home address.

For more information about registering a child in Colleton County, call your zoned school or the Office of Curriculum and Instruction at (843) 782-4526.

A community reception for incoming Colleton County School District Superintendent of Schools Vallerie Cave will be held on Sunday, June 27, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the CCSD Board Room (500 Forest Circle, Walterboro).

Members of the public will be able to meet Dr. Cave during this event, and we hope all of our stakeholders will attend to introduce themselves to our new superintendent!

Dr. Cave will begin working in her new position on July 1.

About Vallerie Cave

Cave has over thirty years of education experience and has degrees from Baptist College, the University of South Carolina and Walden University. She has worked as a teacher, principal and in multiple director-level positions in districts across South Carolina and Georgia.

Her most recent position was Associate Superintendent for K-12 School Transformation and Innovation for Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. During her tenure as Associate Superintendent, over 80 percent of her schools have been removed from the state underperforming list as a result of increasing student achievement.

In addition to her service as an educator, she has served as Vice President for Business Development at the Alabama-based Edutone Corporation and as Director of Consulting Services with the Alabama-based Information Transport Solutions.
