On Aug 7 at 6:58pm, Oceanic Hook & Ladder Fire Co. and Rumson Fire Co. of the Rumson Volunteer Fire Dept were dispatched to a residence on the Avenue of Two Rivers for a house on fire. Asst. Fire Chief Mike Trivett arrived on scene and advised fire burning through the roof of the residence. Lightening appears to have struck a cupola on the roof setting it on fire. Both Rumson Fire and Oceanic Hook and Ladder arrived within minutes of the call and made an initial attack quickly knocking down the fire. Sea Bright FD’s ladder assisted with roof operations. Fire Companies from Little Silver, Fair Haven, Tinton Falls and Middletown assisted. Rumson and Fair Haven’s EMS squads stood by and assisted with rehab. The Rumson And Monmouth County Fire Marshals office handled the fire investigation.
