Last week, the 5th grade students from Forrestdale School celebrated the culmination of their LEAD program. Law Enforcement Against Drugs is a police officer driven curriculum where students get to learn firsthand from our officers about the dangers of alcohol, drugs, and ni****ne. Additionally, students learn how to communicate effectively, make smart decisions, and learn the dangers of giving in to peer pressure.

This year’s outstanding guest speaker was Val Barnaby, a sports trainer and owner of ESSA sports training. He delivered a great message to the kids about having a dream and working hard to make it happen.

Special thank you to our guest speaker, Mr. Barnaby, to our instructors: Sgt. Dougherty, Sgt. Torres, Det. Lehner and Ptl. Orozco. Thank you to the Health teacher, Mrs. Gordon, and to the Forrestdale School staff and administration for their unwavering support of Rumson PD and this important program.

COMMUNITY ADVISORY – SCAM ALERT
Residents, please be aware of an ongoing phone scam targeting individuals by impersonating a family member in distress.
Scammers are contacting victims and claiming that a loved one has been involved in a serious car accident or has been arrested. The caller then states that the family member involved urgently needs cash, typically requested in the amount of $10,600, which must be sent immediately to a supposed “lawyer" to pay for bail or damages from the accident.

Please be advised:
• This is a fraudulent scheme designed to create panic and pressure you into providing money.
• Scammers may use convincing details or even mimic a relative’s voice.
• They will insist on urgency and discourage you from contacting anyone else.

What you should do:
• Do not send money or provide personal information.
• Hang up immediately if you receive such a call.
• Contact your family member directly using a known, trusted phone number.
• Report the incident to your local police department immediately.

Please stay alert and help spread awareness!
