ROSS FIRE COMMUNITY UPDATE :

We are aware of the Ross Fire currently burning in Jack and Palo Pinto Counties and understand that the news of this fire and its current trajectory can cause concern. This fire definitely a fire to take seriously.

At this time, the Ross Fire is NOT an immediate threat to Runaway Bay or our community. The fire is still a considerable distance from us, and there is no reason for our residents to panic based on the information we currently have.

The Runaway Bay Fire Department is actively monitoring the fire, weather conditions, and any changes that could potentially affect our area. If conditions change or there is information our community needs to know, we will get that information out as quickly as possible.

Please continue to go about your evening normally, remain aware, and rely on official information rather than rumors or speculation on social media.

We’re watching it, and we’ll keep you updated.

🚨🚨 Also please do not go exploring around this fire. Yes it’s fascinating but admire from a far. Crews are working on structural protection and evacuations

The Runaway Bay Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to our brother Herstle, who suffered an unimaginable loss of his wife in 2 children after their home caught in fire while he was on duty.

There are simply no words for a loss of this magnitude. And it is gut wrenching to think what this Husband and father is going currently going through.

Herstle, Please know that you are not alone. Your brothers and sisters at Runaway Bay Fire are thinking of you, praying for you, and standing beside you and your family during the days ahead.

The Fire/police/Ems service is a family, especially in the moments when one of our own is hurting.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO WASH THEIR CARS NOW !!
That’s the best way to get rain to show up … well for me it’s always been the way…. 😂

On a more serious note:
As the most of yall have seen the post on social media and seen the headers of smoke in our area I want to let everyone know that the situation at hand is extremely volatile. The smallest spark at this time could run into a catastrophic wildfire. So I want you to ask yourselves one question before you start that welder, or flick that smoke out, see your brush pile getting taller or see your chains are dragging the ground on your boat trailer. Is it worth it ?
-Is it worth it to put firefighters in 100+ degree heat ?
-Is it worth it to burn that brush pile and put your property or our neighbors property at risk ?
-Is it worth it to repair that H-post ?
-Is it worth it to not turn them trailer chains a couple of times to get them off the ground ?
-Is it worth it to flick that cigarette out the window ?

Every answer is “No” …. Let’s start exercising “error on the side of caution”, And pray for some H2O relief.
