๐ŸŽ‰โœจ Big News for Runnemede! โœจ๐ŸŽ‰

The lights are officially on at the Runnemede Girls Softball Fields! ๐ŸฅŽ๐Ÿ’ก

Evening games, extended practices, and safer play are now a realityโ€”this is a major step forward for our athletes and the entire community.

๐ŸฅŽWhat this means for our teams & families:

More flexibility for games and practices
Safer, well-lit evening activities
Expanded opportunities for youth sports
A brighter future for local athletics
A huge win for players, families, and everyone who continues to support and grow our programs ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’™

This is just the beginningโ€”up next are improvements coming to the baseball and soccer/flag football fields as we continue celebrating the Centennial with meaningful investment in our future.

Special thanks to Mayor & Council, borough staff, and especially Shelley Streahle for the dedication and hard work in securing funding and bringing these projects to life.

And deep appreciation to Maria Panzarella for her relentless advocacy for youth programs and commitment to seeing these improvements through until the lights were finally on.

On Monday, May 25th, our town gathered for its Memorial Day Ceremony honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This year marked the first ceremony held on the Centennial Stage, while continuing the honored tradition of visiting our monuments at Veterans Green on the lawn of the Harry Williams Building.

Mayor Nick Kappatos, Council President Patty Passio, Councilwoman Eleanor Kelly, Councilman Luis Cepero, Councilman Ed White, and Councilman Bob Farrell hosted the ceremony alongside the Youth Mayor & Council 2026.

Special presentations were made by Runnemede VFW Post 3324, Scout Troop 117, and Bob Del Sordo. Musical performances included vocals by Erin Wilson, pianist Jimmy Alex, and trumpet player Melissa Breslin, whose contributions helped make the ceremony especially meaningful.

Despite the weather, the people of Runnemede came together in strong attendance to pay their respects and honor those who served and sacrificed.

Special thanks to Public Events Director and Councilwoman Patty Passio, Maria Panzarella, Borough of Runnemede Recreation & Events, as well as the Department of Public Works, for their hard work, planning, and dedication in helping make the ceremony possible.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this meaningful tradition possible.
