Today, Spectracare Foundation proudly honors the brave men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart, one of our nation's oldest and most revered military decorations.
Originally established by General George Washington on August 7, 1782, as the Badge of Military Merit, the award was revived in 1932 as the Purple Heart to recognize members of the United States Armed Forces who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in combat.
The Purple Heart is more than a medal—it is a lasting symbol of extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to our country. Behind every Purple Heart recipient is a story of resilience, selfless service, and a commitment to protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.
Today, we pause to remember those who never came home, honor those who continue to carry the visible and invisible wounds of war, and express our deepest gratitude to every Purple Heart recipient and their families.
