School Bus Safety Reminder

Now that school is back in session, please allow a little extra time on the roads as bus drivers, students, and families settle back into their normal routines.

Drivers should use extra caution near bus stops and residential areas, watch closely for children entering or crossing the roadway, and always stop for a school bus displaying flashing red lights with its stop arm extended.

Please be patient and help us keep our students safe as the new school year gets underway.

🐕 Friendly reminder to all borough residents that dogs must be on chain, leash or behind a physical fence or wall when outside. (Electric fences do not count) We will be serving citations to violators.

🌱 Also, it is time get those w**d eaters and yard mowers up and running. Citations will be served to properties with overgrown grass.

Let's keep things tight and right in The Valley. Everyone needs to do their part to keep town safe and beautiful.

Thank you!

❄️ Winter Weather Reminder & Public Safety Notice ❄️

*This is a friendly reminder for during normal snow fall amounts. We understand that larger snow amounts can be hard to keep up with and we will have more patience for you to keep up with the heavy amounts of snow that falls. Dont worry, warnings will be given before fines and citations are given out.

Sheets of ice have formed on the sidewalk in front of many borough resident's main street properties. This ice can cause people to fall and become injured. It is the responsibility of the property owner to remove snow and ice so the walks are safe.

Borough Ordinance 1025.02 requires all property owners, tenants, or persons in control of property to remove snow and/or ice from sidewalks in front of or abutting their property. A minimum cleared path of 52 inches wide is required.

Snow and ice must be removed within 12 hours after the cessation of snowfall, sleet, or freezing rain. Please use salt or sand as needed to prevent hazardous conditions. Failure to comply may result in citations for ordinance violations. (Warnings/notices will be given to first time offenders)

Thank you for helping to keep our walk ways safe for everyone in the community!
