❤️So honored!
The Chamber is excited to announce the Nonprofit of the Quarter, The Rushville Public Library!
Opened in 1913 through the efforts of the Rushville Federation of Women and the generosity of Andrew Carnegie, the Rushville Public Library remains one of our town’s most notable public organizations.
“We are so much more than just a place to borrow books,” says library director Amy Ambrosius. “Everyone can use the library, you don’t need a library card to attend our programs or access many of our services.”
Services include computer access, faxing and copying, help with employment applications, assistance accessing tax and health benefit resources, free WiFi, outdoor reading and play area, and more.
There are also many programs for residents of all ages. Programs include Move & Groove and Story Time for Littles, knitting groups, summer reading programs (and prizes!), LEGO club, Schuyler County Seed & Plant Swap, sled library, kids crochet group, Books for Babies, Dolly Parton Imagination Library (sponsored by the Tracy Foundation), puzzle swap, free book carts, and the list is always growing.
In addition to books, patrons can borrow audiobooks, DVDs, and Chromebooks through the library’s lending program. They are also part of the Illinois Interlibrary Loaning project, as well as Libby and The Palace Project for e-books.
The library also maintains a Blessing Box, located near the book return, available to anyone in need and stocked through community donations.
Rushville Public Library is located at 514 Maple Avenue and can be contacted at (217)-322-3030 with any questions.
