We’ll be firing up the cooking truck this Saturday, the 15th, for The Hub’s Night Market! We’ll be grilling our marinated pork chops and burgers. Serving from 5pm to 9pm on the Rushville Square.

We would like to thank the family of Marian Payne and those who gave to the fire department through her memorial. The Money given allowed us to purchase 4 personal voltage detectors. These detectors will alert firefighters of downed energized power lines.

Tomorrow starts Redneck Fishing, hosted in Browning, Il. I want to inform everyone that we here at Schuyler County Fire Protection District have been working with multiple other agancies to coordinate a planned response to any emergencies encountered during this event.
Although our Boat/Water Rescue Unit is still in its initial phase of operations, we will have it on the water. Joe Ragle, Schuyler ESDA Director and Curt Hennig from Brown County have provided us enormous amounts of support. We will have crews on the water from Brown County Rescue and Adams County as well. These guys have coordinated all information and planning through the Browning Fire Department to ensure we have adequate staffing, equipment and communications for an event this size.
By pre-planning and staging on the water in advance, we will cut emergency response times by, at minumum 30 minutes and in some cases up to an hour.
We would rather be there and not needed, than to be needed and not there!!!

The Rushville Fire Dept. Personell will be using this as a training opportunity as well, teaming up with the other Units throughout the event for the purpose of gaining valuable information from the experience they will bring to Schuyler County.

We are excited to announce we have been selected for the Compeer Rural Emergency Response Grant. This funding will be used to purchase new AED’s for the department.

Funds provide 146 departments in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin with vital equipment and technology
