In an effort to monitor and prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has implemented a special antlerless season for zone 1-3 counties within the CWD Surveillance Zone.

This season (Sept. 25-28) is in effect for the following counties ONLY:

Ballard, Breckinridge, Calloway, Carlisle, Casey, Fulton, Graves, Hardin, Henderson, Hickman, Laurel, Lincoln, Marshall, McCracken, Meade, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Union, Wayne and Webster.

Fi****ms, bows or crossbows may be used during this season, but only antlerless deer may be harvested. Zone bag limits and hunter orange requirements apply, as do mandatory sampling requirements.

A tick-borne food allergy that was almost unheard of years ago is now so common in Kentucky that many residents know someone living with it.

To help patients, families, clinicians and the community make sense of alpha-gal syndrome, registered dietitians at the University of Kentucky have published one of the first nutrition-focused guides to the condition.

"Not only is it a new syndrome, it's also just one of a kind," said Abbigail Pace of the University of Kentucky Department of Dietetics & Human Nutrition. "That's why it's been challenging to really characterize it and get the information out there broadly."

The class is on September 17th at 5 PM.
Participants will get instruction on how to grow mushrooms on logs. Bring:
A drill
A hammer or rubber mallet
A 5/16" brad point drill bit
A 5/16" stop collar for a brad point drill bit
Make sure the drill is charged.
