"Big Boy," the world's largest operating steam engine is passing through Kansas in late July. Overnight stops are closed to the public unless otherwise noted. Links to more info are at the end of this post.
After two nights at Kansas City, Missouri's Union Station, Big Boy will depart at 9AM on Thursday,
July 23 arriving at Great Overland Station in Topeka at 12:15PM. It will depart at 12:45, arriving at the Old Depot in Salina at 6PM.
Friday, July 24, it will depart Salina at 9AM, arriving at the Avenue E Crossing in Wilson at 11AM. It departs at 11:30 and arrives at East 9th & Milner Street in Hays at 1:30PM.
Saturday, July 25, it will be available for outside viewing in Hays all day.
Sunday, July 26, it departs at 9AM, arriving at the Main Street Crossing in Grainfield at Noon and departing for Sharon Springs at 12:30PM. No arrival time is given for Sharon Springs and there will be no public access.
Monday, July 27, Big Boy departs at 9AM Mountain Time on the way to Kit Carson, Colorado.
