RVCAC Russellville Location would like to honor two amazing interns that we were blessed by this year! Ezra Kinsey, Psychology and Sociology major at Arkansas Tech and Carley Mitchell, Sociology and Criminal Justice major at Arkansas Tech. These two amazing individuals went above and beyond in their internships, assisting our staff, and even client families. The RVCAC team knows there are great things in store for these two and we are so grateful for our time with them!! ๐Ÿ’™

โ€œThis internship opportunity has given me a whole new understanding of child advocacy and a greater appreciation for services the RVCAC provides. I am looking forward to learning more about the careers in child advocacy and helping the center serve such an important community. โ€œ - Ezra

"My time at the River Valley Child Advocacy Center has taught me several lessons that I will carry with me throughout my life and career, but one of the most important ones is to just be there for people. Many people, no matter their age, need someone to talk to and for someone to actually listen, respond with empathy, and help them navigate the next steps. I've learned that being that listening ear or stable shoulder for someone to lean on is one of the best services that you can provide to those who are experiencing difficult or traumatic times in their life like those we see at the CAC." - Carley

Our interview rooms are designed with one person in mind: the child.

Soft, calming, and welcoming - it's a space where children can feel heard. And the person sitting across from them? A specially trained forensic interviewer who understands that talking to a 5-year-old sounds different than talking to a 15-year-old. Our forensic interviewing model, ChildFirst, equips interviewers to communicate effectively across all age groups, adjusting their language, tone, and technique to match each child's developmental level.

That training matters. The room matters. It means every child, regardless of age, is met where they are, with the right words and the right approach.

April was Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the RVCAC is overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible support we witnessed throughout our community. ๐Ÿ’™
Throughout the month, our team stayed busy placing child abuse prevention signs across multiple counties, joining the Mayor and partner agencies for proclamation signings, showing our support by wearing blue, and staying active in the community. At the same time, our staff continued providing essential services including forensic interviews and advocacy for 76 families who needed us.
But this month wasnโ€™t just about what we did.
It was about what our community did with us. We were honored to have so many agencies, organizations, and individuals stand beside us and help amplify our mission. This month, our community donated time and energy to support our cause, wore blue shirts to raise awareness, dyed their hair blue, painted blue handprints, sponsored prevention signs,
collected hygiene items, donated funds to strengthen our services
showed up, spoke up, and stood up for children.
Every act big or small made a difference.
Child Abuse Prevention Month is a reminder that protecting children is not the work of one agency. It takes a united community, and we are incredibly grateful for the one we have. To every partner, every supporter, every volunteer, and every person who chose to take a stand with us this April: THANK YOU.
