We just completed our first Next Gen Responders Youth Academy, and it was an incredible week. Participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Police, Fire, EMS, OEM, Dispatch, Jail, and State Park, giving them a real look at what it takes to serve our community.

This program would not have been possible without the support of our amazing sponsors. Thank you to Community Service, Inc. Region 6 Prevention, First Assembly of God, Arvest Bank, City Corporation, Main Street Russellville, Northern Tails Sharpening, and Dominos for helping make this academy possible. We also want to recognize the many volunteers who gave their time and effort to invest in our youth.

We’re proud to bring this opportunity back to Russellville and can’t wait to share more. Stay tuned next week for highlights from the Next Gen Responders Academy.

Royle Luker procession

Today at approximately 1:00 PM, WWII Veteran Royle Luker will be passing through Russellville on his way to the funeral home in Dardanelle.
Royle Luker was killed in action during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, while serving our country. For more than 80 years, his remains were unidentified until a DNA match in 2025 finally brought him home.
Sheriff Wilson encourages everyone who is able to come out along the route to show their respect and support for this American hero and his family. Let us honor Royle Luker’s sacrifice and welcome him home with the dignity and gratitude he deserves.
Please keep the Luker family and all who served in your thoughts and prayers.

We’re changing things up this year for the Boots and Badges Blood Drive—and it’s all for a powerful reason.

In years past, it’s been a fun showdown between Police and Fire, with the community picking their favorite first responders. But this year, we’re coming together for something bigger than a competition.

The Russellville Fire Dept. is bringing a life-saving advancement to our community—the ability to carry blood on the ambulance. Through a partnership with Our Blood Institute, they can now provide critical care when every second counts.

This is where you come in.

By donating at the Boots and Badges Blood Drive, you’re not just supporting a great cause—you’re helping ensure that lifesaving blood is available right here in Russellville when it’s needed most. Your donation could save the life of a friend, a neighbor, or a loved one.

Join us. Give blood. Make a difference right here at home.

It’s that time of year again for the Special Olympics Torch Ride! For more than 35 years, the Russellville Police Department, surrounding agencies, and our community have proudly supported this event. It remains one of the highlights of our year as we come together to support the Special Olympics and the incredible athletes who inspire us all.

We invite everyone to come out and support the athletes, as well as our officers, as they travel across Pope County in support of this amazing organization. We will be making a pit stop at Centennial Bank on Parkway to meet our athletes around 11:00–11:30 AM. Thank you to everyone who helps make this tradition possible year after year.
