Investing in our School Resource Deputies means investing in the safety and success of our students.

Last week, our School Resource Deputies had the opportunity to attend the Alabama Association of School Resource Officers Conference in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The conference provided valuable training on school safety, crisis response, youth engagement, and best practices for protecting our schools.

Being an effective School Resource Deputy is about much more than enforcing the law. It is about building trust, creating positive relationships, and serving as mentors to the students we are sworn to protect each day. Through networking and collaboration with school resource officers from across Alabama, our deputies gained new ideas and strategies to strengthen those relationships and continue fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

We are proud of our deputies' commitment to professional development and their dedication to the students, faculty, and staff they serve. By continuing to learn and grow, they are better equipped to make a positive difference in the lives of our children and help ensure our schools remain safe places to learn and thrive.

🚨📞 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 📞🚨

This week, we proudly recognize and celebrate the incredible men and women who serve as the calm voice in the chaos—our 911 dispatchers and telecommunications officers.

In 2025, our dispatchers answered over 9,000 emergency 911 calls and over 12,000 additional calls for service. They manage these calls while also providing radio communications to every deputy, every fire department, and some additional police departments that rely on them for their everyday operations.

Behind every emergency call is a dedicated professional who answers without hesitation, providing guidance, reassurance, and critical support to both our community and our deputies. They are the unseen heroes—working tirelessly, often under immense pressure, to ensure help arrives when it’s needed most.

From life-saving instructions over the phone to coordinating rapid emergency responses, their role is vital to public safety. Their commitment, professionalism, and compassion do not go unnoticed.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our dispatch team for the sacrifices they make each and every day. Thank you for your service, your strength, and your unwavering dedication to Franklin County.

Sheriff Shannon Oliver delivered powerful remarks, and we appreciate Investigator Billy Burks for leading us in prayer as we began the walk. It was truly inspiring to see so many individuals, families, and businesses come together for such an important cause.

Events like this are a reminder that protecting our children is a shared responsibility—and today, Franklin County showed up in a big way.

As Inv. Burks said "As we walk today, let us walk in unity, compassion, and purpose-being the hands and feet of God's love in this world.” 💙
