Rustburg VFD 1st due Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department 2nd due to a mobile home on fire with a person sill inside unable to get out. RVFD members were still at the station and had two trucks enroute within minutes with a 10 Minute response time. Engine 16-2 (w3), Tanker 16 (w1). While enroute we were updated that heavy fire was showing and Concord Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for an addition tanker. The individual was able to get out of the home prior to our arrival.

Engine 16-2 arrived and started an aggressive attack at the front door. A second line was pulled and made an attack at the back of the home. While the two members were inside an oxygen tank vented and caused gear damage, but the members were unhurt.

The Fire Marshall's office was requested to investigate and the red cross was notified for the home occupant.

Dear Campbell County Community:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to educating ourselves about breast cancer, supporting those affected, and advocating for research and improved treatment options. As we observe this important month, we encourage everyone to engage in activities that can make a difference.

What You Can Do:
1. Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about the risk factors, symptoms, and importance of early detection. Share this knowledge with friends and family to raise awareness.
2. Get Screened: Schedule your mammogram and encourage loved ones to do the same. Early detection is vital in increasing survival rates.
3. Support Survivors and Families: Offer your support to those who have been affected by breast cancer. This can be through listening, volunteering, or participating in local support groups.
4. Participate in Events: Join community walks, runs, or fundraisers that support breast cancer research and awareness. Your participation helps raise critical funds for research and patient support services.
5. Advocate for Research: Support organizations dedicated to breast cancer research and policy changes. Lobbying for awareness and funding can lead to breakthroughs in treatment and prevention.

Let’s take this opportunity to promote awareness, support those in need, and contribute to the fight against breast cancer. Together, we can make a significant impact.

Please remember, you are not alone in this fight. There is strength in our community and hope for a future without breast cancer.

Be Healthy, Campbell.

Oct 5-11 is National Fire Prevention Week. This year's theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety, Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home"
Every day fires are started by Lithium-Ion batteries being charged improperly. Please watch the attached YouTube video link for tips on how to charge these batteries. You might have to press skip to advance the video when started

This also marks when Rustburg VFD is sending out our letters asking for donations. Look for this info in the letters as well and consider donating to our department

05/07/25 03:47 Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department (1st Due) and Rustburg VFD (2nd Due) were notified to heavy Black smoke in the area of Twin Oaks Terrace. CCSO units search the trailer park and found it to be coming from more the direction of the Landfill. Units responded to the Landfill where we found the fill face (area where they are currently dumping) on fire with about 3/4 of an acre burning. Concord Volunteer Fire Department was added for an additional tanker.

After Region 2000 employees arrived and started spreading out the trash, unit started hosing down the piles. Units operated on scene for about 3 1/2 hours until the landfill was able to handle with their water truck.

So if you woke up to the smell of burning plastic and smoke you are not alone as you could smell it in Rustburg as well.

04/22/2025 11:06 Rustburg VFD was advised of a MVC involving a Tractor Trailer hauling cattle at the intersection of Browns Mill Rd and Brookneal Hwy. Original dispatched stated the trailer had flipped over. Arriving units found the trailer had not flipped but had started to turn over to going off the roadway. Attack 16 and Rescue 16 responded and when they arrive used their winches to help stabilize the trailer as it had 79 head of cattle onboard. The roadway was also shut down to one lane as the Tractor was in the southbound lane. Members set up traffic control unit two large wreckers could be set up to get the trailer back in the roadway.
