Our goal is to make a difference in our community for adults in and around Campbell county seeking to improve their reading and writing skills and for adults who seek to improve their English speaking, reading and/or writing skills. Tutors and students usually meet once a week, either one-to-one or in a small
group, at one of the four Campbell County library locations (Rustburg, Altavista,
Brookn

eal and Timbrook). The instruction is centered around the student's goals. Through the literacy volunteers program, the volunteers are trained, who in turn help residents of Campbell County benefit from improved literacy and/or English language skills. Each year the LVCCPL helps hundreds of people achieve their goals related to reading and communicating in English. With those improved skills and confidence, students can improve their job prospects and financial situation, read bedtime stories to their children, participate more fully in society, and the benefits are endless. Elizabeth Saunders is the Adult Literacy Volunteer Program Manager for the Campbell County Public Library System, a volunteer-based program which provides free tutoring in Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) to residents of the county and surrounding areas.

P.S. Might as well mark your calendar for our big Summer Reading Grand Finale Street Fair event on Saturday, July 25th from 10am to 2pm centered around our library in Rustburg. Dinos are coming!

All CCPLS locations will be closed on Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday. All of our digital services will continue to be available 24/7. We will reopen with our regular hours on Tuesday, May 26.

Do you want to learn more about Honduras, Poland, Jamaica, Taiwan, Mexico, Guatemala, and Ukraine? Do you want to set off on an adventure? Then join the Literacy Volunteers and their students at the Timbrook Library on June 18th for Around the World Night for a FREE night of epic adventures. There will be games, crafts, snacks, photo booths, the prize wheel, and each family leaves with a book and a plant for their garden! Bring a picnic dinner for under the patio and enjoy the evening!

Our silliest night of the year is next Friday! 📦 Build forts out of boxes, play games, sock battle, and laugh! It’s your family vs. us!!! We can’t wait! Registration is free, but limited! Register at campbellcountylibraries.org/fortnight

We are accepting box donations next week in our Glass Room at the library in Rustburg. It’s a perfect time to get rid of any boxes you have!

Do you or anyone you know want the flattened boxes when we are finished? Have them stop by March 2nd or 3rd to get them! Great for our gardening friends.
