👮🚓RUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT 2ND ANNUAL CITIZENS ACADEMY🚓👮

Get your 'tickets'🗒️ early for the 2026 Ruston Police Department Citizens Academy!

The five-week academy will take place every Tuesday from October 6 to November 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. We are officially accepting applications now. Because class sizes are strictly limited to ensure an engaging, hands-on experience, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Local residents aged 18 years and older are encouraged to enroll. Applicants are subject to a routine background check, and you must have a valid email address, as this is how we will communicate with you.

This years participants will get hands-on experience! We will fabricate a real- life scenario to enact and let you engage from the beginning of the call to 911 to the end. We will also have demonstrations from specialized units like SWAT, K-9 & CID.

Applications are available at the Ruston Police Department and must be returned by Tuesday, September 22.

Ruston Police Department Investigates Sexual Assault Involving Juvenile

On August 21, 2026, at 8:53 p.m., officers with the Ruston Police Department responded to Northern Louisiana Medical Center regarding a reported sexual assault involving a juvenile.

During the investigation, officers and investigators determined the assault occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of McAllister Street. The juvenile was evaluated at the hospital and evidence was collected.

The suspect, identified as thirty-seven-year-old Jackie Perdue of Ruston, was detained and transported to the Ruston Police Department for questioning. Following the investigation, Perdue was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

• First Degree R**e
• Crimes Against Nature

Because this investigation involves a juvenile victim, the Ruston Police Department will not release additional details in order to protect the victim's privacy and the integrity of the investigation.

The Ruston Police Department takes allegations of sexual abuse involving children extremely seriously and will continue working to protect victims and hold those responsible accountable.

Ruston Police Make Arrest After Sexual Assault of Juvenile

On August 18, 2026, the Ruston Police Department began an investigation into the reported sexual assault of a juvenile under the age of 13. During the investigation, officers also discovered that Irving had reportedly broken into the convenience store where he was employed and stole several items, including lottery tickets, before leaving the business.

Forty-three-year-old Darnell Irving of Ruston was identified as the suspect. Irving was located by patrol officers and taken into custody. Investigators also learned Irving had an active felony warrant out of Dallas, Texas.

Irving was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

• First-Degree R**e of a Victim Under 13 Years of Age
• Simple Burglary of an Immovable Structure
• Fugitive from another Jurisdiction

The Ruston Police Department takes crimes of sexual violence, especially those committed against children, extremely seriously. We will continue to aggressively investigate these cases, hold offenders accountable, and do everything within our authority to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.

Ruston Police Department arrested 32-year-old Frasier Hogan of Ruston following an investigation into multiple sexual assault allegations.

Hogan was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on August 19, 2026, on charges of second-degree r**e and being a fugitive from another jurisdiction.

• Initial Report (July 2026): A woman reported a 2020 sexual assault that occurred when she was fourteen years old. Investigators determined the incident took place outside the city limits and referred it to the appropriate jurisdiction. During a background review of Hogan, investigators discovered a prior report from a different woman describing a sexual assault where Hogan was named as the suspect.

• The Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office transferred a report to the Ruston Police Department Investigators regarding a 2025 r**e that occurred within the city limits. The victim stated Hogan contacted her via social media, having known her from his position at Ruston High School. According to the victims’ report, Hogan lured her to his home while she was intoxicated, using force and threats to prevent her from leaving.
