🔥What happens inside a home when a fire starts? We built a model to show you!

💡The idea of a model that shows how quickly fire and smoke can overwhelm a house came about a year ago. When we couldn’t find a model that demonstrated this idea in a home, we decided to build one ourselves. Today, we showed it off at the Lincoln Parish Career Expo!

💨The model shows how quickly smoke can spread and why working smoke detectors are so important.

🚒We are thankful for all the hard work our talented Ruston Fire Department members have put into this project!

🔥🔋 Fire Prevention Week Tip # 5:

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

🔥🔋 Fire Prevention Week Tip # 4:

Unplug your device when it is fully charged. Leaving it plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and stress on the battery.

🔥🔋 Fire Prevention Week Tip #3:

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.

🔥🔋 Fire Prevention Week Tip # 2:

Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or floor. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause a battery to overheat.

🔥🔋Fire Prevention Week Tip # 1:

Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
