"Prepared for the worst, Providing the best"

09/11/2023

On this solemn day, The Ruston fire Department stands in silence, hearts heavy as we remember the unthinkable tragedy that unfolded on September 11, 2001.

In the line of duty, we lost:

8 EMS/Paramedics
72 Police Officers
343 Firefighters
2,997 Civilians

These were more than numbers; they were fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, friends— They were heroes who rushed toward danger, sacrificing everything to save others. The bravery displayed on that day will always be remembered. Each life lost left a void that can never be filled.

Today, we light a candle in their memory, a small flame against the darkness of our grief. We honor their legacy by continuing to protect and serve our community with the same unwavering dedication and bravery.

Let us never forget the sacrifices made on 9/11 and the enduring spirit of heroism that unites us all. May their memory inspire us to be better, kinder, and more united.

Please join us in a moment of silence for our fallen heroes.
