Eddi has served as the RCRC RHS Liaison for the past two years, strengthening the vital connection between Rutherford High School and the Commission. Through consistent attendance and active participation in monthly meetings, Eddi became a trusted conduit for student voices—ensuring the student body's perspectives on equity, cultural inclusion, and diversity initiatives were heard and valued.

Eddi's dedication to increasing visibility and fostering deeper understanding of the diverse experiences within the RHS community has made a real difference. The passion and commitment brought to this role will undoubtedly continue to drive meaningful advocacy work ahead.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the U.S. learned they were free—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth reminds us that the struggle for freedom can be long, requiring courage and persistence. It is a celebration that also cautions us not to take equality for granted, as even the greatest victories can be delayed too long for too many.

Please join us in honoring this holiday and this history by remembering and recommitting ourselves to civil rights and justice for all in our community.

Apply TODAY for the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship granted by the Rutherford Civil Rights Commission!

This scholarship will be awarded to a High School senior (must be a Rutherford resident) who wishes to study human rights / civil rights after graduating high school.

To qualify, please complete the application (link is in the comments). For more details or to obtain a hard copy of the application, please email [email protected].
