ROAD CLOSURE ALERT!!!!
Friday May 29th

Hackensack Street in East Rutherford will be closed in both directions starting at 8am this morning. The road closure will run from East Erie Avenue in Rutherford (Train Trestle) to Union Avenue in their jurisdiction.

Please plan an alternate route and drive safely!

The Rutherford Police Department is proud to have once again partnered with Rutherford Elks Lodge #547, Rutherford’s Dairy Queen, and Ferazzoli's Pizza to help celebrate the Elks National Youth Week from May 1st to May 7th. Wearing proper safety equipment while riding bicycles and scooters help reduce the risk of suffering serious injuries. This special partnership looks to encourage and provide positive reinforcement to those who choose to follow the law and protect themselves. To help encourage this behavior, our officers were on the look out for children who are outfitted with the proper safety gear while riding through town. If spotted, they received either a voucher for a free small soft serve ice cream cone/cup at Dairy Queen or a slice of pizza at Ferazzoli's.

We would like to thank Rutherford Dairy Queen and Ferazzoli's Pizza for their extremely generous donation to Elks Lodge #547, and give a special thanks to Elks Lodge #547 for continuing this important effort to educate and protect our children.

In obersevance of Memorial Day, Alternate Side Parking and Parking Meter enforcement are suspended on Monday, May 25th.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY!!

East Rutherford will be milling/paving Park Avenue from Union Ave to Paterson Plank Road in their jurisdiction from Tuesday May 26th until Friday May 29th.

During this time, there will be partial road closures during the milling of the road, and then a full road closure during paving.

Please plan an alternate route, and drive safe safely!

Mission accomplished! Congratulations to Officer Anthony Bachmann for completing the nearly 300 mile journey to Washington D.C., and importantly, raising over $2,200 in donations for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

Chief Russo and the Rutherford Police Department are proud of Officer Bachmann for representing our department in the Unity Tour, and for his dedication to honoring our nations fallen officers.

The Rutherford Police Department held our annual Law Enforcement Career Day for the students at Rutherford High School. This trip is designed to show the students first hand some of the amazing opportunities a Law Enforcement Career can provide.

Chief Russo would like to recognize and thank the staff at Rutherford High School, the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, Lyndhurst Police Department, and the Federal Air Marshal Service for all their assistance throughout the day.
