THREE Firefighter / Fire Equipment Operator Positions
Starting Salary: $49,421.46 DOQ | 24/48 Schedule

We know there are a lot of opportunities in the fire service right now. If you're considering your next move, take a serious look at Rutherfordton.

We're adding three career firefighters as we increase minimum staffing to two career personnel per station, per shift across both of our stations. More importantly, we're building around a great team of firefighters who train together, work together, and take pride in serving this community.

We're also investing in the equipment and opportunities our firefighters need to do the job:

New 107' aerial ladder — In Service
New custom engine — Arriving Fall 2026
New brush truck — Arriving Summer 2027
New pumper/tanker — Arriving Summer 2028

Both stations operate custom frontline apparatus, and our firefighters have opportunities in structural firefighting, rescue, swift water, EMS, apparatus operations, specialty training, and public education.

We invest in training, certifications, continuing education, and professional development. After two years of service, firefighters are eligible for advancement to Senior Firefighter.

Day Five, our final Day, of Camp Spark. Today was a day of friendly competition games, water day, Icee truck and cookout! We would like to express our appreciation to all our sponsors, parents, and campers for sharing this week with us! We have had a blessed and fun week, hopefully this week has sparked some interest in the fire service and our future generation will continue to come back for more knowledge and fun! We look forward to Camp Spark 2027!

Day Four of Camp Spark was a day to bring it all together. Today our campers learned about forcible entry and search and rescue and then the afternoon was scenarios for bringing it together. Everyone did great at showing what they've learned this week!

Day 3 of Camp Spark was a day of rappelling! All campers were brave and enjoyed learning how to set up the system! Day 4 here we come!

Day Two of Camp Spark included fire extinguisher training, the history and practice of the Denver Drill, and a small taste of fire behavior! Day Three promises to be just as fun!

Today was Day One of Camp Spark! Today our campers learned the lifesaving skills of CPR (including Firefighter down CPR), basic knots and ropes, and how to use the air bags for stabilization and/or lifting heavy objects! We are excited for Day Two!
