Meigs SWCD Conservation Area Located in Meigs County, Ohio along New Lima Road between Rutland and Harrisonville, the Meigs Soil

The Meigs SWCD Conservation Area consists of 174 acres ranging from wetland, prairies, streams and ridges, and a little bit of everything in between. The "Consarea" is open to the public and permission is not needed for general use, hiking, birding, and other non-consumptive activities. Contributions to the care and maintenance of the Consarea may be made in care of the Meigs Soil and Water Conservation District at 33101 Hiland Road, Pomeroy OH 45769.

CALLING ALL CRAWDAD HUNTERS!

The Ohio Scenic Rivers Program challenges you to find the biggest crawdad you can and enter our Mohican Crawdad Derby contest! Here’s what to do:

1. Go to a stream and catch a crawdad

2. Take a picture of the crawdad with a ruler to measure its length. The length should be measured from the tip of the extended claws to the tip of the tail.

3. Submit your entry by emailing [email protected]

Entry must include the photo, length, name, age of participant entering, and an email address. (We may use your photo when we announce the winner or for future events).

Entries must be submitted by 6 pm on Friday, September 11th.

The winner will receive a bundle of 12 Ohio nature identification guides by the Ohio Division of Wildlife, featuring creatures such as dragonflies, stream fish, owls, bees, butterflies and more.
