PSA – Traffic Advisory

August 20, 2026 at 8:45 AM

Please be advised that the Department of Public Works has closed the following sections to through traffic until further notice for repairs:

• Granger St. — from South St. to Plain St.
• Church St. — from Kingsley Ave. to Roberts Ave.

Please plan ahead, use alternate routes, and use caution when traveling in the area.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this work is completed. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE / DETOUR NOTICE 🚧

Work is being done on the railroad tracks at West St. near Central Vermont Motorcycle. Please use the following detours while work is underway:

➡️ Traveling EAST on West St from Center Rutland:
Veer left onto Columbian Ave → right onto State St → right onto Pine St → left back onto West St.

⬅️ Traveling WEST on West St from Route 7:
Turn left onto Forest St → right onto River St (which becomes Dorr Dr) → veer right onto Dorr Dr at the Dorr Dr bridge → veer right onto Ripley Rd → back onto Business Route 4 West.

Please plan accordingly, follow posted detour signs, and use caution around the work area. 🚧

Please be advised that the Department of Public Works Wastewater Collections Department has closed a section of Granger St, from Hickory St to South St, to through traffic until further notice for repairs.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this work is completed. Please plan ahead, use alternate routes, and use caution when traveling in the area.

UPDATE: Park Ave. is now open.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

Park Ave. will be closed to all traffic from Grove St. to Pine St. while the Water Department works to repair a water service.

Our city forester’s removed a hazardous tree today that had a large crack in the main portion of it.
They had a little help from our sewer collection division,Rutland recreation maintenance crew GMP and a crane.
Our foresters are highly trained, skilled and knowledgeable and it shows in their work.Thanks for a job well done and completed safely!
