We're Recruiting in DOWNTOWN RUTLEDGE!

Appalachia CARES AmeriCorps has open support positions in our counseling and property management departments and Downtown Rutledge.

Counseling and property management support responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) supporting clients through application processes, data entry and records management, and property management administrative and maintenance tasks, based on the assigned position.

Downtown support responsibilities will include community development tasks related to revitalization efforts and hospitality services.

Occasional event attendance to promote our services (some weekends) at festivals and other events is required.

We’re looking for self-starters of all ages (17+) who want to learn and build career experience or give back to the community with the knowledge and skills they already have! AmeriCorps provides a living allowance and an education award for college, or to apply to student loans, which is transferable to a child or grandchild for members who are ages 55+.

A pet photo costume contest will held during the inaugural Downtown Rutledge Spooktacular Free Family Event Thursday, October 29 at Friendship Park in Downtown Rutledge.

HOW TO ENTER:

Take a photo of your pet up in their favorite costume.
Submit your photo via email to [email protected]

HOW TO WIN:

Voting will take place during the Downtown Rutledge Spooktacular. Costumed pets' photos will be placed with a collection box for canned goods. Attendees are encouraged to bring in-date, undamaged, canned goods to donate to the Grainger County Baptist Association's Food Pantry. Each can will count as one vote. The pet with the most cans of food (votes) wins!

The deadline to submit photos is Monday, October 26.

One day remains for vendors to apply to be part of the Downtown Rutledge Holiday Market at the Nance House and Friendship Park Saturday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The deadline to apply is Monday, October 19.

The inaugural indoor/outdoor market will take place in the historic setting of Downtown Rutledge, within notable historic structures and in the open air, beneath a canopy of old growth trees in the idyllic Friendship Park.
