The City of Rutledge Mayor, Alderpersons, and Employees extend our deepest condolences to the family of former Mayor Danny Turley.

Danny served as Mayor of Rutledge for more than ten years, dedicating his time, heart, and service to our community. His commitment to Rutledge is deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.

Please keep the Turley family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Danny’s passing leaves a void in our community that cannot be filled, and he will be greatly missed.

Our heartfelt prayers and condolences are with the Turley family.

The bridges on Bryan Road and on Old Blue Springs Road are closed until further notice. If you have any questions please call the city hall at 865-828-4513. The city is working hard to get the bridges opened up as soon as it is safe to do so. We are sorry for any inconnivence this may cause. Please share.

The city of Rutledge asks that you remember JD’s family during this time.

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Patrolman John David Holland. John passed away at Fort Sanders Hospital on 04/02/2026 after having a triple bypass. John had been in emergency service for over 30 years in Jefferson County and came to work with the Rutledge Police Department last April. We ask for prayers for his family and children. Ptl. John David Holland will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

The City of Rutledge is accepting sealed bids for mowing the following properties: The Rutledge City Hall, Rutledge City park including the firing range, and the sidewalk islands. This will be for the 2026 mowing season. Bids will be accepted until February 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Proof of insurance coverage must be attached to bid or it will not be considered. The city reserves the right to reject any/all bids. For questions or to set up an appointment to view properties call 865-828-4513 or 865-566-4301. EOE

The City of Rutledge mayor, aldermen and city employees would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Just a reminder we will be closed tomorrow the 26th and will be back open on Monday December 29th at 8:00 am.

Rutledge Christmas Parade is today at 1:00. It’s going to be a beautiful day so come on out and enjoy the final parade of the season for Grainger County.

Reminder: The Rutledge Christmas Parade will be tomorrow December 20th at 1:00 pm. Line up for participants starts around 11:30. There is a release that will have to be signed by the responsible party for each entry in the parade. Stacy (TN Orange Santa Hat) will be coming around to get those signed. There will be no tolerance for horseplay. We want everyone to have fun but be safe. Dirt bikes, ATV's, etc. will be required to wear a helmet. Line up will start at the Rutledge Primary School and will end at the Rutledge Middle School. Horse riders: if your horse is skiddish of loud noises take into account the EMS vehicles will be using their sirens during the parade.
