Construction on the Theodore Fremd Avenue wall project is slated to continue in the coming days, with a lane closure on Theodore Fremd Avenue scheduled to begin on Monday, June 8.

Construction will require temporary traffic modifications in the area for approximately two months:

Beginning on June 8, Southbound traffic on Theodore Fremd Avenue will be closed between Purchase Street and Elm Place.

Northbound traffic on Theodore Fremd Avenue will remain open.

Detours: Southbound motorists on Purchase Street will be directed to:

Elm Place, or further south via Locust Avenue, Orchard Avenue, or Central Avenue

Car Park 2 Access: Entry and exit to Car Park 2 will remain open; however:

All exiting vehicles must turn right (northbound) onto Theodore Fremd Avenue

Drivers should expect minor delays and are encouraged to plan alternate routes where possible.

Please be advised that the Celebration of Life for Hamish Fenton will take place today at 5:30 PM at Christ’s Church.

Overflow parking will be available at the Snow Lot.

Motorists should expect heavy traffic and possible delays along Boston Post Road and surrounding areas between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Please consider alternate routes and allow additional travel time.

On Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a helicopter made an emergency landing on the athletic field of Rye Neck High School.

The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was not injured.

As a precautionary measure, personnel from the City of Rye Police Department, City of Rye Fire Department, Mamaroneck Police Department, and Mamaroneck Fire Department responded to the scene to ensure public safety and assess the situation.

Proper notification has been made to the appropriate aviation authorities. Updates will be provided as further information becomes available.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department and the City of Rye Police Department will be conducting a joint seatbelt enforcement detail on Boston Post Road at the Rye/Mamaroneck line.

Officers from both agencies will be conducting high-visibility enforcement focused on seatbelt compliance and occupant safety.

The Soul Ryeders Half Marathon returns to the City of Rye on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Please expect increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area along Playland Parkway, Forest Ave, Midland Ave, and Grace Church St throughout the morning hours.

Important event times:
• 7:15 a.m. – Main parking lot access closes until 9:00 a.m.
• 7:30 a.m. – Half Marathon begins
• 7:45 a.m. – 5K begins

Motorists are advised to use caution, expect delays, and follow all posted traffic directions and officer instructions. We wish all participants a safe and successful race day.

We were proud to join numerous law enforcement agencies from across Westchester County in the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics.

Lt. Hein, Sgt. Hinrichs, PO Morales, and PO Rodriguez proudly represented our department while helping carry the “Flame of Hope” in support of Special Olympics athletes and their families.
