The Akimel O’odham/Pee-Posh Youth Council has 2 (Two) Advisory Board positions available to serve a 3 (Three) year term. The purpose of the Gila River Indian Community Youth Council Advisory Board (the “Board”) shall be to assist the Youth Coordinator with the affairs of the Akimel O’odham Pee-Posh Youth Council. The Advisory Board Member will also chaperone Youth Council members to and from events and projects. The Advisory Board Member will chaperone students on travel to conferences and youth related events.
The following are Chaperone Guidelines and Criteria:
-Upstanding member of the community.
-Abides by tribal, state, and federal laws.
-Responsible for students from moment parent / guardian drops off youth until the moment they are picked up by parent.
-Must be 22 years of age.
-Absolutely no consumption of alcohol, drugs (unless prescription), to***co (unless ceremonial) from start of travel / event until completion of travel / event.
-Willingness and ability to converse with students.
-Ability to positively enforce Youth Council rules and regulations.
-Ability to positively enforce tribal, state, and federal laws.
-Physical ability to chaperone students for 16+ hours per day for several consecutive days.
-Pass background check.
-Ability to get a tribal drivers license (39 month driving record required).
-CPR / first aid preferred.
Advisory Board Applications are due by September 18, 2026 at 12:00 P.M.
Interviews will take place at the YC Meeting on September 26, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. Location TBD.
