We are excited to announce Ryan Yett as the new head band director at Hudson Middle School!

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Yett has served for the past 8 years as the associate band director at Wilson & Young Middle School in Odessa, Texas. During this time, he has been the co-conductor of the symphonic band and concert band, as well as being responsible for teaching all beginner woodwind classes. Bands under his direction have consistently earned superior ratings at UIL evaluation as well as festivals across the state, and have been named a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Project.

Mr. Yett graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, and from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master's degree in Music Performance.

In his free time, Mr. Yett enjoys spending time with friends and family, enjoying the great outdoors, and is an avid sports fan. (Go Cowboys!)

Last weekend, 27 of our Beginner Band members performed in the GISD All-Star Bands! These students auditioned against students from all over GISD to earn spots in these ensembles. Their day was full of rehearsing and meeting other students from the district. After 5 hours of rehearsing, they performed an amazing concert! We are so proud of them!

Congratulations to our Beginner Band students who auditioned for the GISD Beginner All-Star Band today! They showed so much courage and growth through the preparation process and we could not be more proud of them. They represented the Hawk Band so well! An extra congratulations goes out to our 27 students who earned a spot in the All-Star Band and will put on a concert on May 2. We can’t wait to hear it!

🚨Music For All Photo Dump Incoming!🚨

The Hudson Middle School Wind Symphony absolutely blew the roof off the stage last week at the Music for All National Festival National Festival in Indianapolis! To perform at a national level is a huge honor, and these young musicians rose to the occasion with passion, talent, and dedication. We are so proud of all the hard work they put in to reach this moment!

Our students heard keynote speakers talk about kindness, dedication, and leadership, attended workshops where they practiced their teamwork and communication skills, listened to other ensembles from across the country give incredible performances, made new friends with students from other schools, and enjoyed a standing ovation at the conclusion of their concert, undoubtedly filling them with pride and joy.

We are so very thankful for all of the support received from Hudson Middle School and Garland ISD! From new instruments to transportation, this trip would not have been made possible with out their support!

To our incredible parents: Thank you for the endless carpools, the early morning drop-offs and late pick-ups, financial investment, and for always encouraging and supporting your students! This trip wouldn’t have been possible without your constant encouragement and belief in these students! 💙

To our amazing chaperones: A huge shout-out to the team that kept us organized, safe, and on schedule! Your behind-the-scenes hard work allowed our musicians to focus on the music, and we are so grateful for your time and energy. 🚌🙌

This is their last performance before they head to Indiana for the Music for All Festival, and we’d love to fill the room with energy and encouragement.
