This past Tuesday was a great afternoon of middle school athletics as the S**o Middle School 7th grade baseball and softball teams traveled to face their rival, Biddeford Middle School

It was a beautiful Maine day for competition and all the familiar sounds of the game: the crack of the bat, dugout communication, and strong support from teammates and fans.

Beyond the competition itself, it was a reminder of how athletics for our student-athletes create opportunities for players to build relationships, learn through experience, and represent their teams and school community in a positive way.

Appreciation goes out to the coaches, families, and supporters who help make these experiences possible for students throughout the season. Great work!

A packed house, great music, and unforgettable performances made this year’s S**o Middle School Jazz & Showtunes Concert a tremendous success!

The SMS chorus transformed the cafeteria into an elegant venue reminiscent of the jazz age, creating the perfect setting for an evening of music, refreshments, and community. Families and friends gathered to enjoy snacks and beverages while our talented students took the stage.

From the classic style of Puttin’ on the Ritz to crowd favorites like I’m Still Standing, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Copacabana, the chorus delivered a performance full of energy, personality, and heart.

Congratulations to our chorus students and to Ms. Hazelwood for all of their hard work, dedication, and passion; and for creating memorable moments like these for our students, school, and community!

He’s back—and going BIGGER than ever! This Sunday, S**o Middle School PE teacher and Guinness World Record holder Ryan Martin is taking on an incredible challenge—attempting to set the record for the Most NBA Three-Pointers Made in a 24-Hour Period.

The event begins Sunday, May 31st at 9:30am in the SMS gym and continues nonstop through Monday, June 1st at 9:30am, pushing the limits of endurance, focus, and determination.

Ryan already holds multiple records, including Most Free Throws Made in One Hour, Most NBA Three-Pointers Made in One Hour, and most recently, Most NBA Half-Court Shots Made in One Hour, and now he’s aiming even higher!

This weekend, the S**o Middle School S**o Middle School Bobcat Players lit up the stage at Thornton Academy with an electric performance of Shrek Jr. The acting, vocals, humor, and energy throughout the show were outstanding, and the cast and crew truly wowed the audience!

Having the unique opportunity to go backstage and connect with the cast and crew before the performance was especially memorable. Seeing the excitement, teamwork, and positive energy behind the scenes was just as impressive as the show itself.

A very special thank you to Ms. Megan Orlandella for directing the musical and dedicating countless hours to bringing the production to life, and to Ms. Hazelwood, SMS choral director, for supporting and guiding our vocalists throughout the process.

What made this performance especially meaningful were the themes of self-acceptance, friendship, and belonging — all such important messages for middle school students. Great job to the entire cast and crew for supporting one another, working together, and putting on an unforgettable performance!

Congratulations to our 8th grade students who were recognized last night as winners of the Rotary Essay Contest! Students were asked to write about “What Family Means to Me,” and we are incredibly proud of the thoughtfulness, creativity, and heart they demonstrated through their writing. The 1st place winners from each school had the opportunity to read their essays at the event. Monetary awards were presented to the winners, as well as to charities of their choosing. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
