Tonight, I attended a neighborhood meeting regarding the proposed Inside Circle transitional housing project in Arden-Arcade.

I believe location matters; and placing this parolee transitional housing facility at this location puts our community at risk.

Public safety and successful reentry do not have to be competing priorities. But a reentry program has the best chance of succeeding when it is placed in an appropriate location, operated responsibly, and most importantly, when it has the confidence and support of the community around it.

Thank you to everyone who came out tonight, asked questions, and made their voices heard.

The 20th Annual Swing for the Wish benefiting Make-A-Wish at TopGolf is in the books! A huge thank you to InterState Oil Company for hosting this event for an incredible 20 straight years. This event has helped raise more than $1 million and has granted more than 100 wishes to children and their families.

One of tonight’s highlights was hearing from Nolan, who was diagnosed with leukemia at just 4 years old. Make-A-Wish granted his wish to attend a Minnesota Vikings game, and hearing his story was a great reminder of what these wishes mean to kids and their families.

I also got to catch up with old friends like retired KCRA sports anchor Del Rodgers, who served as tonight’s emcee.

Another favorite summer pastime this weekend, as I went out to the Courtland Pear Fair yesterday! And no trip to the Pear Fair is complete without bringing home some pear strudel. For those wondering about the video of the Deputies walking… that was taken right after they picked up strudel to take home to their wives. Smart men!

Thank you to everyone who came out!

A great day at the California State Fair in the books! Short lines for rides, lots of laughs with Papa, and Zeke had an awesome time. We wrapped it up the only way we know how, with our annual corn dogs.

California law requires juveniles convicted of even the most serious crimes, including murder, to serve their sentences in county juvenile halls, with release required on or before their 26th birthday. Many juveniles convicted of murder serve only 2-3 years before being released.

Gary Grover was convicted as a juvenile of murder and attempted murder. Since his release, our Gang Suppression Unit has arrested him 3 times for illegal firearm possession. He led Deputies in a vehicle pursuit, crashed into innocent motorists, failed to appear in court 4 times, accumulated multiple felony no bail warrants, and once again required a foot pursuit before being taken back into custody.

“Reforms” to California’s juvenile justice laws have gone too far. Enough is enough.

Donated some blood at Vitalant with Lieutenant Vernon. It only takes about an hour, but one donation can help save multiple lives.

Blood supplies are critically low, especially Type O, and donation centers are asking anyone who is eligible to consider giving. Hospitals usually have a 4 to 5 day supply, but now they’re down to two days.

If you’ve been thinking about donating, now is a great time to do it. Your one donation could make all the difference for someone in need.
