California High-Speed Rail Authority

California High-Speed Rail Authority Building the US’s first 200+mph & 100% renewably powered high-speed rail.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) is responsible for planning, designing, building and operation of the first high-speed rail system in the nation. California high-speed rail will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2033, the system will run from San Fra

ncisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds capable of over 200 miles per hour. The system will eventually extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations. In addition, the Authority is working with regional partners to implement a state-wide rail modernization plan that will invest billions of dollars in local and regional rail lines to meet the state’s 21st century transportation needs.

This week, we welcomed California State Association of Counties (CSAC) staff and representatives from various county agencies on a tour of the Hanford Viaduct in Kings County! 🤝🚅⚡

While on site, they learned about what it took to build the largest viaduct in the Central Valley currently underway, as well as how contractor Dragados-Flatiron JV, CP 2-3 manufactured thousands of pre-cast elements needed for the 65-miles known as Construction Package 2-3. Thanks for visiting high-speed rail construction!

Big news for California’s high‑speed rail future! 🎉

Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority Board of Directors approved the first phase of the nation’s largest and only high‑speed rail track and systems installation effort — a major milestone on our path to delivering true high-speed rail.

The American-led team of Kiewit, Stacey Witbeck, and Herzog will install the track, overhead contact system, train control and communications infrastructure needed to transform the 119 miles of guideway being completed in the Central Valley into an electrified high-speed rail system capable of speeds up to 220 mph.
