During a recent Leadership Education and Athletic Program (LEAP) and Mentor Program sports session, Chief Rowe took a moment to connect with youth while visiting the Youth Detention Facility (YDF) alongside guests from Improve Your Tomorrow.
Chief Rowe recognized the youth for their continued participation, cooperation, and positive engagement in the many programs and opportunities offered at YDF. Moments like these help build positive connections, encourage personal growth, and reinforce the importance of teamwork, accountability, and making positive choices.
A special thank you to Improve Your Tomorrow for visiting YDF, learning more about our programs, and spending time with our youth. We appreciate your partnership and commitment to empowering young people and helping them build brighter futures.

Ten youth from the Valley Oak Youth Academy (VOYA) participated in the first ever Sacramento State Summer Bridge Program, a weeklong event hosted at the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility. The program was a collaborative partnership between the Sacramento County Probation Department, Sacramento County Office of Education, Sacramento State University, and Project Rebound, bringing a unique higher education experience directly to youth within the facility.
Throughout the week, participants worked alongside Sacramento State educators, coaches, alumni athletes, and Project Rebound representatives to develop résumés and explore digital storytelling, entrepreneurship, career development, and sports-related programs. Youth also participated in interactive workshops focused on critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, and personal growth, while having the opportunity to train and engage with Sacramento State alumni athletes.
The Summer Bridge Program provided youth with an opportunity to explore higher education, discover potential career paths, and develop practical skills for their future. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections, participants were encouraged to build confidence, recognize their strengths, and begin thinking more intentionally about their educational and professional goals.

Our team had a great time at the Cattlemens Tip-A-Cop fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Northern California!
Thanks to the generosity of our community, more than $4,500 was raised at our location! 🎉👏
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated, and helped make the evening such a success and to Cattlemens, Special Olympics, and our law enforcement partners for coming together for such a great cause.

Last night, Sacramento County Probation had the opportunity to participate in National Night Out events across the county, spending the evening connecting with community members, answering questions, meeting families, and sharing information about the many ways we serve our community.
From meeting future probation officers to handing out stickers, sharing laughs, and building new relationships, every conversation reminded us why community partnerships matter.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, ask questions, and spend the evening with us. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our neighborhoods and look forward to seeing you again next year!

Last week, the Sacramento County Probation Department’s Reentry and Community Partnerships Unit hosted a successful Reentry Hub event at our Main Probation Office! 💙
Clients had the opportunity to connect with community resource providers, receive free haircuts, learn about available services, and access support designed to help them succeed. From housing and employment resources to health services and community partnerships, the event was filled with meaningful engagement and opportunities to build brighter futures.
A big thank you to our community partners, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this event a success. Your dedication and collaboration continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

Probation officers recently conducted a compliance check of an individual on both juvenile and adult searchable probation. During the contact, officers located a 15-year-old female who was confirmed to be a reported missing person.

Following a collaborative investigation with the Sacramento Police Department, officers developed probable cause to arrest the individual on probation for unlawfully inducing or persuading a minor to engage in commercial s*x acts.

With the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Special Enforcement Detail (SED), probation officers later served a residential search warrant. During the operation, the suspect was found in possession of a firearm and a high-capacity magazine.

The suspect was arrested and booked on five felony charges, one misdemeanor charge, and two probation violation petitions.

This case highlights the critical role probation officers play in protecting vulnerable youth, partnering with allied agencies, and enhancing public safety throughout our community.

Their messages served as a powerful reminder that the past does not define the future.
