πŸ“£ Highlands Family β€” We Need You With Us!

We’re asking our students, staff, alumni, families, community partners, and supporters to join us in person on September 9 as the Sutter County Board of Education considers the California Learning Academy (CALA).

CALA represents an opportunity to bring the Highlands mission to more students in Sutter Countyβ€”helping adults earn their high school diploma, access career training, and take the next step toward a brighter future.

πŸ“… September 9, 2026
πŸ“ Sutter County Board of Education

πŸ’™ How can you help? Simply show up and stand with us.

You do not have to speak at the hearing. Being there matters. A strong showing from our Highlands community helps demonstrate how many people believe in this work and the opportunities CALA can create for students.

If Highlands has been part of your storyβ€”whether you earned your diploma, found a second chance, supported a loved one, worked alongside our students, or partnered with us in the communityβ€”we would be honored to have you there.

Come stand with our students. Come stand with Highlands. Come show Sutter County what is possible when we create opportunities for people to move forward.

πŸ’›πŸ’™ Your presence matters. We hope to see you September 9!

We are proud to share a major Highlands Forward milestone: the California State Auditor has now marked all 18 audit recommendations directed to Highlands as fully implemented.

This reflects a year of serious work to strengthen systems, improve oversight, raise standards, and better serve students.

Highlands Forward is about building a stronger, more accountable, more student-centered future – and continuing to move forward with integrity, standards, and care.

The best way to understand the impact of graduation? Hear it from the graduates. We interviewed several members of the Highlands Class of 2026, and their reflections remind us what community, perseverance, and hope look like. We are so proud of each of them.
