Saddle River Fire Department

The SRFD is a 100% volunteer organization that provides fire protection and rescue services.

The Saddle River Fire Department is a volunteer organization which provides emergency services for fire and rescue emergencies. Members of the department are trained in a variety of certifications including firefighter I-III, rescue technician, emergency medical technician, first responder, hazardous materials, incident command structure, and many more. The department has 6 pieces of apparatus, Engine 1131, Ladder 1141, Rescue 1142, Tanker 1134, Pumper 1133, Utility 1151.

Sometimes we keep it simple and go over the basics of engine operations. Establishing a water supply, stretching, and moving lines are fundamental skills that you can learn here on a Tuesday night.

On Tuesday evening Chief 1130, 1140, Engine 1131, and Tanker 1134 responded into Upper Saddle River for the second alarm assignment.

On July 4th, the Saddle River Fire Department assisted Ridgewood with the presentation of colors during their annual Independence Day parade and later supported their scheduled fireworks detail. Rescue 1142 was also assigned to the Allendale fireworks display.

Unfortunately, due to severe weather, both fireworks events were cancelled as storms moved rapidly through the area.

SRFD responded to multiple storm‑related incidents within the borough and additionally provided mutual aid to Upper Saddle River for a working fire assignment, followed by support to Woodcliff Lake/Hillsdale for a separate working fire incident.

Training in the acquired structure continued this week with emphasis on roof ventilation operations and a window high‑point setup for victim removal. These capabilities enhance our operational flexibility and preparedness.

Yesterday Engine 1131 responded mutual aid into Allendale for the working fire assignment.

Summer’s in full swing and SRFD has been moving nonstop. This week stacked regional assignments, firework standbys, and solid training reps.

We kicked things off celebrating our nation’s 250th at the borough’s event. Engine 1131 rolled out as a decon engine for multiple FIFA World Cup games. Members put in work at an acquired structure, sharpening search and movement skills. The department hosted a Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid / Bergen County Battalion 4 training session with Flow and Vent. Later in the week Ladder 1141 assisted at the Wyckoff Fire Department fireworks.
