June is baby animal season. Fledglings on the ground, fawns in the grass, rabbit nests in the lawn, turtle eggs in garden beds. They're all out right now — and most of them don't need help.

The image covers nine things people do in June with good intentions that make things worse. A few of them will surprise you.

🌿 The fledgling hopping on the lawn left the nest on purpose. The fawn curled alone in the grass was hidden there by the doe. The shallow fur-lined nest that looks like dead grass has baby rabbits in it and the mother comes back at dusk.

The one most people don't think about: bare patches of soil that look empty often have native bee nests underneath. Mulching or tilling over them seals the bees in.

Nine panels. Nine mistakes. The kindest thing you can do for most of them is walk past.

If something is genuinely injured — a licensed wildlife rehabber is the right call 🐾

🐢 Why Do Turtles Need to Be Put Back Where They Were Found? 🐢

One of the most common mistakes well-meaning people make is relocating turtles because they think they're helping.

The truth is, turtles spend their entire lives learning where to find food, water, shelter, nesting sites, and safe places to spend the winter. Many turtles have very small home ranges and know their territory incredibly well.

When a turtle is moved to a new location, it doesn't simply settle into its new home. Instead, it often tries to return to where it came from. Unfortunately, that journey can lead to road crossings, starvation, dehydration, predation, and even death.

If you find a turtle crossing the road, the best thing you can do is help it cross safely in the direction it was already traveling and leave it there.

Please don't take turtles to a nearby pond, park, or your backyard. What seems like a better home to us may actually put the turtle at serious risk.

Every turtle plays an important role in our ecosystem, and sometimes the best way to help wildlife is to simply let them stay wild. ❤️🐢

Have you ever helped a turtle cross the road? Tell us about it in the comments!

🦌 Two More Fawns Arrive at Furry Fixers Wildlife Rehabilitation 🦌

It was a busy night for wildlife rescue.

These two fawns came to us under very different circumstances, but both needed help. One was so dehydrated and desperate that it actually ran up to a man seeking assistance. The other lost its mother after she was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Both babies are now safe, receiving fluids, proper nutrition, and the care they need while we work to give them the best chance possible.

Spring and summer are some of the busiest times of the year for wildlife rehabilitators. Every intake requires formula, medical supplies, housing, and countless hours of care.

If you'd like to help support animals like these fawns, donations are always appreciated and go directly toward their care.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to stop and help wildlife in need. These little lives matter. ❤️🦌

One of my really good friends made this video to help raise money for the animals here at Furry Fixers Wildlife Rehabilitation Inc. ❤️

So please don’t let her down… although I have to admit, more videos like this would be pretty entertaining. 😅🦝

Every donation helps us provide formula, medications, enclosures, heating pads, supplies, and emergency care for the wildlife babies and injured animals coming through our doors daily. Being a wildlife rehabber is expensive, exhausting, emotional work — but these animals are worth it.

If you’d like to help support the rescue, my PayPal and Venmo are below. Even small donations truly add up and make a difference for these babies.
