During this Third Friday, October 16th, the Safety Harbor Professional Firefighters Local 2267 will be selling Breast Cancer Awareness shirts for $25!

Come by Station 52 from 6-9pm to get your shirts! While cash is preferred, credit card payments are available. Proceeds benefit Amber and the Safety Harbor Professional Firefighters Local 2267 Charitable Foundation, which provides assistance to local first responders and their families in times of need and supports other charitable organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Fire Prevention Week™ is October 4–10, 2026.

“Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower” focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.
Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

This week, we’re also encouraging our community to:
*Check your smoke alarms — Test them regularly and make sure you have working alarms throughout your home.
*Know two ways out — Make sure everyone in your household knows at least two ways to escape from every room.
*Practice your fire escape plan — Have a plan, practice it, and choose a meeting place outside.
*Stay alert while cooking — Cooking is one of the leading causes of home fires. Never leave cooking unattended.
*Talk with your family about fire safety — Make sure children know what to do if a fire occurs.

Fire safety starts before the emergency. A few minutes of preparation today can make a life-saving difference tomorrow.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH |

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year it has an especially personal meaning for the Safety Harbor Fire Department.

One of our own, Firefighter/Paramedic Amber Healy, is currently battling breast cancer. Throughout her fight, Amber has the support of her Fire Department family, City family, and the entire Safety Harbor community behind her. 💗

Throughout October, our firefighters will proudly wear Breast Cancer Awareness shirts while on duty. The Safety Harbor Professional Firefighters Local 2267 is also making these shirts available for purchase by the public!

♻️Tire disposal fee waived for Pinellas County residents!

🦟 Dump the water—and the tires! Old tires can collect standing water and become breeding grounds for mosquitoes that may spread dengue fever. From Sept. 28–Oct. 30, 2026, Pinellas County is waiving disposal fees for residents bringing up to four tires, 36 inches or smaller, to the Solid Waste Disposal Complex at 3095 114th Ave. N. in St. Petersburg.
