We were informed that paperwork associated with the Graham County Sheriff's Office Adult Detention Center were along the roadway on Safford-Bryce Rd from 8th Ave going west. Thank you to those who brought this to our attention and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Once notified Sheriff Office personnel collected the papers .

NEWS RELEASE: The Graham County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from members of the Thatcher Police Department and Department of Public Safety arrested Luis H. Pina (age 33) for a warrant issued from the Pima County Superior Court for Homicide and Robbery charges. Graham County Investigations received information from the Tucson Police Department that Luis Pina was possibly in the Safford/Thatcher area.

On November 22, 2024, at approximately 11:00 AM, law enforcement saw Luis H. Pina on a bicycle in the area of Robinson Ranch Road and 8th Street. He was arrested without incident for
the warrant. A handgun was found in his possession at the time of the arrest. He was taken to the Graham County Sheriff's Office for processing and the Tucson Police Department was notified of the arrest.

On November 11, 2024, the Graham Couty Sheriff’s Office was notified by Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and Benson Police Department that David Wells (43-year-old male from Safford, Graham County) had been located in Benson, AZ. On November 11, 2024, he was reunited with his family.

We thank the police agencies and the public who assisted the Sheriff’s Office in trying to locate David Wells since he was reported missing to law enforcement on November 1, 2024. We are grateful for the outcome and that David Wells is back in Graham County with family.

NEWS RELEASE: Missing person-David Wells

On November 1, 2024, at approximately 4:26 PM Graham Couty Communications was notified by a third party that a David Wells (43-year-old male from Safford, Graham County) had not been seen by his family for 4 days.

On November 1, 2024, a Deputy spoke to the brother of David Wells who explained he had not seen his brother for 4 days and his brother was not answering his cell phone. David had left a note that he was going to see his father and would be gone for a few days. The brother said this has been the longest David has gone without at least being in contact with him by phone.

On November 1, 2024, Graham County working with the cell phone company showed a last location of the cell phone in the area between Willcox and Benson. The last recorded information was October 30, 2024, at approximately 10:44 PM. Graham County reached out to the Department of Public Safety and Cochise County Sheriff’s Office to see if there had been any reports of David Wells being involved in any type of accident or incident in that area. None were found.

Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was asked to check the area, which was a 2-mile area, based on the information we received from the cell phone company. David Wells was entered as a missing person on November 1, 2024.

On November 3, 2024, a witness reported seeing David Wells at their home on October 31, 2024, at approximately noon. David Wells was speaking to the witness about yard work and returning that weekend. As of November 3, 2024, the witness has not seen David Wells.

On November 4, 2024, Graham County continues to monitor information from the cell phone company which has shown no change. Graham County also reached out to Cochise County with the October 30, information and a possible wider search of the area by air. On November 4, Graham County also was looking into a report David Wells was possibly seen at Walmart in Safford. Graham County will continue to follow any information brought to our attention in an effort to find David Wells.

If anyone has information about the current whereabouts or contact with David Wells any time in late October or beyond they are asked to contact the Graham County Sheriff’s Office.

Do not give out any personal information and hang-up on the caller. Please notify family and friends of this information.
